THE BIG DAY OUT

On Sunday 16th of June clients and volunteers from the RCSC jumped onto buses in Brisbane and we made our way on that beautiful, warm winter’s day to Cotton tree park by the sea, Maroochydore coast. The day of entertainment and feasting was put on by a community group called the Buderim Buddies.

After filling ourselves with the delicious local fruits and dishes provided by the buddies, we moved to the playing fields where we learnt a thing or two about soccer from the kids. Some people then took to the dance floor for cross cultural Latin American dance lessons. Other products from the day were dozens of beautifully painted faces and a masterful piece of art painted by most of the 80 or so people there! It can be viewed on the wall in the RCSC house in Windsor .

The Buddies are a group of compassionate people based around Buderim   on the sunshine coast. These friends are working together to find ways 'to break down the veil of ignorance that allows ordinary Australians to  be hood winked into thinking government policy in regards to Refugee claimant’s is just'. As well as writing letters to politicians and editors, the buddies work more personally by organizing events such as Sunday.

The buddies are also offering retreats for volunteers and clients giving  them the chance to get away from the city and spend valuable, relaxation time on the beautiful sunshine coast.
